On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, Zodiac Aero Electric in Niort opens its new test facility
Niort, May 29th, 2015 – In the presence of Jérôme Baloge, Mayor of Niort, Jacques Brossard, Mayor of Chauray and Olivier Zarrouati, Chief Executive Officer of Zodiac Aerospace, officially opened Zodiac Aero Electric's new test facility today at the Niort site, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Zodiac Aero Electric has been part of the Zodiac Aerospace Group since 1999 and is a world leader in onboard electrical power management systems, providing systems for virtually all recent programs. Originally founded in Paris in 1948 under the name of ECE (Établissement de Construction Électrique) by Mr. Auchapt, the company opened its current site in Niort in 1965. Fifty years later, the Niort plant has 700 employees, half of whom are production operators or technical workers, and occupies premises totaling 23,700m2.
This new test facility boosts the capacities and capabilities of the Zodiac Aero Electric site in Niort, which until now specialized in the manufacture and assembly of aircraft electrical power management and produced cockpit components. With its new test facility, Zodiac Aero Electric has additional internal capacity to conduct mechanical and electrical tests on power management. These tests are mandatory in order to ensure the products' airworthiness prior to delivery to the customer.
Zodiac Aero Electric is part of the Zodiac Aerospace Group's Aircraft Systems segment, which accounts for 31% of Group revenue. The company has more than 1,400 employees located over four sites in France (Niort, Montreuil, Besançon and Antony).
